Health Standards

The health standards in French Polynesia are up to the same standards as countries in Europe. North American citizens arriving from the U.S. do not require any special inoculations to enter Tahiti. Travelers arriving from countries with reported infections of cholera, yellow fever, and/or other disease as defined by the World Health Organization may be asked to present a certificate of inoculation to enter French Polynesia. Tap water in hotels and restaurants is generally safe to drink. Bottled water is widely available on the islands. We urge travelers to use insect repellant to protect against mosquito bites.
