Taha’a will wisk you away into the traditional, tranquil life of the Tahitian people. The flower-shaped main island is surrounded by tiny motu islands with white-sand beaches. Vanilla-scented air flows down the hillsides courtesy of the island’s many vanilla farms. Taha’a is a great place to truly escape! Your stay will be more about spending time at your resort and getting away to relax. There are some excursions available, however your time would generally be more focused at the resort.
Taha’a is the sister island to nearby Raiatea as they share the same lagoon. There is only 1 airport that serves both islands, located on Raiatea. When you arrive on Raiatea, you will travel by boat to your resort on Taha’a (most resorts are about a 30 minute boat ride away).
Raiatea has a special place in Polynesian history. It was the first island in the region to be populated. Raiatea is the starting point for most sailing charters in French Polynesia. The sailing conditions are excellent, and it is a pleasure cruising to the other nearby islands. Raiatea is also home to the only navigable river in French Polynesia.
4×4 Taha’a Safari (Half Day)
Discover the black pearl and the vanilla culture, two precious treasures of Taha’a before going on the cross-country road up to the panoramic view point. On the way, your guide will show you the different fruit plants and flowers that grows on this beautiful rich island.
Most of your dining on Taha’a will be at your resort. Le Taha’a includes breakfast daily and has some great restaurants for lunch and dinner. Vahine Island Resort includes breakfast and dinner daily with lunch available as well. There are a few small restaurants and snack shops on the main island, however they can be difficult to access since the Taha’a resorts are on private islands. If you do make a trip to the main island of Taha’a, there is a store when you can purchase drinks and snacks for your room.
